What do you do when your heart’s biggest desire is to have a dog and all you see are dogs everywhere?

Meet Sophie, an optimistic third grader who wants a dog of her own more than anything. Sophie loves every dog she has ever met. From Maddie the math dog to Charlie at the fire station to the three dogs at her best friend Nadine’s house, dogs seem to be everywhere. Everywhere except at Sophie’s house. Will Sophie ever get a dog of her own?

As Sophie discovers, the journey of waiting is filled with ups, downs, trust, and a whole lot of patience.

Sophie and Spot received a Gold Medal for Best First Book in the chapter book category from Moonbeam Children's Book Awards in 2019.

"A Sweet
Story"

"Sophie and Spot
is a little gem of a book infused with love that has huge and important life lessons . . .."

- Amazon Review
"The story is about a little
girl, Sophie, and her desire to get a
dog and her parents’ hesitation to
have one. While this drives the story, the story is also about her day-to-day life, the ups and downs. And again, it’s so well written that I was really invested in her life and what was going on."
- Goodreads Review
“Teachers are always
looking for books that teach empathy,
establish diversity and inclusivity, and lend focus to morally conscious characters. Sophie
and Spot hits all of these marks beautifully.

The premise is sweet; Sophie wants a dog but her fathers aren't ready for one yet. As the reader, you experience all of her longing, adorable reasoning, and efforts to fill her life with the unbeatable companionship of man's best friend.”
